Install AVRO in ubuntu!!!

guys, i don't know why no one posted this before.

But avro for ubuntu is available for quite some time!!

You can get it from here

Edit:

instructions in case you don't understand theirs:

1. Download and installl the scim-avro_0.0.2-1ubuntu9.10_i386.deb
now logout, login again.

2. type in terminal:

im-switch -c

there, find the number of scim and type it. press enter.

Now, reboot.

3. Go to System> Preferences> SCIM Input Method Setup
There, make this settings:
a. keyboard > us
Trigger > ctrl + alt + b (you can use your own preferable shortcut too.)

b. make the following changes under the GTK panel settings.


Now, when you press ctrl + b, it will automatically switch from bengali to english and vice versa

it asks me to install some scim packages.
I am confused about which one to choose, and regardless of choosing any thing... I can't get the ctrl+space switch work
And neither any menu shows up when I click on the scim menu


EDIT: this works perectly you can install simply scim-anthy.. you won't use it anyway.
But remember to restart your pc after installing
then press ctrl+space/ctrl+alt+b to switch to avro layout

nice post. what abt 64bit people like me. i can install 32bit version in 64bit. but it may crash........

I think it is better if you use scim-canna instead of scim-anthy
scim-anthy needs 16.4MB and canna needs 618KB

As far as I know, for ubuntu, only unijoy is available.

you can get the instructions from here if you want to use unijoy. But then again.. you could've googled "unijoy in ubuntu". The link I gave comes up in second option and you could've made a topic yourself
Guess the habit of learning things by heart kind of stopped you from thinking this.

মুখস্ত করে কোনো কিছু লেখার ধারণাটা আমার কাছে বড্ড বেশি বিরক্তিকর...

আমার ধারনা ছিল অভ্র তে বিজয় লেআউটে লেখা যায়। আরে আমি এইটা প্রেফারেন্সে খুজছি, মাগার (তখন) পাই নাই, সেই জন্য...। তাছাড়া আমার যেহেতু বিজয় অলরেডি মুখস্ত আছে, কাজেই এটুকু কাজে লাগিয়ে স্পীড এর ক্ষেত্রে একটু সুবিধা পাই।

তা অবশ্য ঠিক। যার যেটাতে সুবিধা, সে সেইটা ব্যবহার করলে আমার আপত্তি নাই। কিন্তু সে যদি অন্যের পছন্দের জিনিষের ব্যাপারে মন্তব্য করে... মন্তব্য তো শুনতে হতেই পারে
আর যতদূর জানি, অভিজ্ঞ ইউনিজয় ব্যবহারকারীর থেকে অভিজ্ঞ অভ্র ব্যবহারকারীর গতি অনেক অনেক বেশি। হয়তো এই কথা ভেবেই অভ্র এর ডেভেলপাররা উবুন্টুতে প্রাথমিক ভাবে এই phonetic অভ্র দিয়েছে। পরবর্তীতে হয়ত আরও ভালো কিছু আসবে। কিন্তু আপাততঃ ইউনিজয়টা ওই লিঙ্ক থেকে দেখেই ব্যবহার কর?

তা... এখন কিভাবে বাংলা লেখ? আমার ধারনা ইউনিজয়টা দিয়ে লেখার উপায় পেয়েছ।
ছবিসহ একটা ইংরেজী নির্দেশাবলী বানালে মনে হয় ভালই হয়

তোর ওই লিংক এই কাজ হয়েছে.. তাই আর কিছু লিখি নাই।

লিনাক্সে বাংলা লিখতে গেলে অনেকই দিশা হারায় ফেলে। সুতরাং এটা গুরূত্বপূর্ন টিউটোরিয়াল।

আমি লিনাক্স ইনস্টলের দিন থেকেই IBus ব্যবহার করে আসছি, অভ্রদার ধারে কাছেও যাই নাই।
(শুনে উনি কিঞ্চিত রাগ হতে পারে)

IBus একটিভ করা অনেক সহজ। এটা নিয়েও একটা টিউটো দিয়ে ফেলেন

Ibus active করা সহজ, আর অনেকেই প্রভাত ব্যবহার করে।
কিন্তু ভায়া, আমি নিজেই তো প্রভাত ব্যবহার করতে পারি না বলে ওই ছায়া মাড়াই নাই!

ভাই, র‍্যানডম ইউজারদের জন্য "অফ দ্যা রেকর্ড" একটা টিউটো থাকা দরকার।
এর পর যার যেটা ভাল্লাগে সে সেটা নিয়ে থাক

খালি ভার্চুয়াল কী বোর্ড না, আরো অনেক কিছুই নাই। কেন নাই এটা মনে হয় আমাদের চাইতে অভ্র যারা বানিয়েছে তারা আরো ভালো বলতে পারবে।

দ্রষ্টব্য।
আমি পরামর্শ দেব যদি নতুন বাংলা লেখা শিখো, অথবা আগে অভ্র ব্যবহার করে থাকো, তবে উবুন্টুতে, এবং অন্য খানে প্রভাত লে আউট ব্যবহার করতে।
অভ্র + scim জনিত যা যা সমস্যা আছে, তার কোনটাই প্রভাত ব্যবহারে আর থাকে না।
