Avro launchpad PPA for Ubuntu
Hi guys. Most of you have seen and followed the tutorial I provided for installing Avro in Ubuntu.
That post was also given in my personal blog. Couple of days ago, a guy named Kaustav posted this as a comment in my blog.
I have googled around, and found that Kaustav is a regular member at OmicronLab forum and been working there. Though I didn't try out the PPA(simply because now I prefer using Probhat), I think this PPA should be tried out by others.
If you follow the ppa and install it, please give your feedback under this topic

Thanks for the post.
I have prepared Avro (scim-avro) packages for Ubuntu. They can be downloaded from my Launchpad PPA at https://launchpad.net/~kaustav-dasmodak/+archive/kido.
Installation instructions can be found at my blog post Install Avro Phonetic (scim-avro) in Ubuntu from PPA.
Using
this PPA, you can directly install scim-avro 0.0.2 in Ubuntu 10.04,
10.10, 11.04 and 11.10 for both 32bit and 64bit versions of Ubuntu.
@Amit Seal:
You can try this package from my PPA. It installs all dependencies for Avro on Ubuntu.
Thanks,
Kaustav

Re: Avro launchpad PPA for Ubuntu
Well,I gave it a try. But it didn't work.
Added Launchpad ppa to my software sources, updated package information. But it ended up in showing errors as below while installing scim-avro:
Edit: I've installed scim-avro successfully. The above errors occurred because I had some broken packages. Fixed 'em,again proceeded to install and succeed.
Thanks to Caustav for it

Re: Avro launchpad PPA for Ubuntu
Hey guys, thanks for trying it out. I'm glad to know it worked for you. The problem that still remains (and I think is not a fault in the packaging) is that there are issues trying to type letters like 'খ', 'ছ' etc in OpenOffice/LibreOffice. I've seen the same happen while compiling scim-avro from source. Any ideas on that?

Re: Avro launchpad PPA for Ubuntu
I picked out one more issue.
With scim-avro running,I've faced problem programming in Codeblocks IDE.
The keyboard keys just get stuck when I press ctrl+space while coding. And I had to either click on anything outside the IDE or just quit scim-avro to start coding again.
Can you tell more about this problem?

<.<
age long issue with Scim. I noticed that when I used Eclipse. Probably has something to do with Scim's oldness.
