Enabling Help file viewer in Windows 7
You can't access the .hlp files in Windows 7.
and you need genuine windows to fix that, right?
Wrong!!!
Have no fear, lordy is here!!
first of all, download this file which includes the win32 help file viewer.
now, you will need to paste the exe file in C:\windows
but wait.. when you try to paste their, no matter what you do.. you are not granted any permission.
Because, though you are the administrator, you ain't the owner!!
to become owner, you have to edit some registry files.
But to make that easier, I have got these two files from another website
Anyway, download the registry files from here.
when you unzip the above file, you will see two reg files.
double click on "InstallTakeOwnership", and enable it.
now when you right click on any folder, you will see another new option in menu, take ownership.
right click on c:\windows folder, take ownership.
it will take some time, but it will give you ownership anyway!
now, paste the winhlp32.exe and replace the original file in your c:\windows
now, you can use the help file all you want!!
And btw, though I wrote this tutorial myself, I merely merged two different tutorials from two different websites.
