Hi everyone,

If anyone have changed the default program to open a .lnk file(the shortcut files in desktop and toolbar in general), its quite impossible to use any desktop icon. This problem gets worse when all your .exe files are manipulated. Moreover, this situation cant be removed if you restore your system default.

This problem can be solved in a minute by downloading a small zipped Utility software to Unassociated File Types in Windows 7 and Vista. You can download it from the kink given below.

http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/231/1/An-Utility-to-Unassociate-File-Types-in-Windows-7-and-Vista.html

After downloading this file, run Unassoc.exe to find tab where you can choose any type of file and remove its file association. Then you will have your PC back on terms and all the .lnk files will be as normal as before.

And if you have the second path of problem(manipulated .exe files), then you will not able to run the file you have downloaded. If this is the case ,then run windows task manager>File>New task and then you will have the windows command option. And giving manual commands, you have to do the same I have stated earlier.

You also can download it from here.

Actually, you can not do it because even cmd is an exe file.
You need to press and hold ctrl, and then click on run. Then the cmd window will open automatically.
Then, you should use the command prompt to execute the Unassoc.exe file.
