Java Servlets (tomcat) Documentation in Eclipse
Well, if you already setup your eclipse in proper way, you will see that you can view the Default Java documentation like this:
now, if you have started leaning Java Servlet on the basis of tomcat, you will notice that you can't view the java documentation of Javax class files or the class source files.
It is because Java doesn't supply those files and you need to integrate those files manually from an outside source.
So, you will need two things:
1. Java Servlet Documentation
2. Java Servlet Source files for tomcat.
From the first link, download the zip file with the title Javadoc.
From the second link, download the zip file with the title Source Code Distributions
Save the files in a safe place so that they don't get deleted by mistake.
Now that you have downloaded the necessary files, time to set 'em up!
open eclipse, and go to any Tomcat Based project.
Expand the Apache tomcat Library file under package explorer, right click on servlet-api.jar and go to properties.
you will see 3 menus at the left panel. At the first menu, it is telling you to show the path to the source file. That's the second file you have downloaded.
at the second menu, it is telling you to show the path to the documentation of java-servlet class files. That's the first file you have downloaded.
After showing the files, click on apply and voila! you are done
