That's a very valid question Muctadir.
The answer to your question is,
There are specific differences between a forum and a group.

Forum is better to communicate with other forum members via website/browser.
It can be organized and customized in an even more detailed manner compared to group.
A forum is way more better to discuss different subjects with the members of the forum.

So why was the group created?
first reason is, the idea of creating Yahoo group was given by Khaled Sir.
and, the group outwits the forum in one very important thing, (and it has some other advantages).

Email system.

You can just type

iit-du@yahoogroups.com

in the address of email and all the members of iit-du group will receive that email instantly.
That was the point why the group was created. So that our teachers can communicate with all of us with one single mail address.

From time to time, this group will be used to contact with IIT, as a whole.

I hope that answers your question.
