Summary:
A framework that inter-operates seamlessly between web and desktop. The idea is to build a extensible framework where any type of feature can be plugged in easily, yet the feature will be accessible via either web or desktop interface. Currently, in the web interface, basic information services (notice, assignments, results) are implemented. The only implemented feature in the desktop interface is the Prepaid Printing System, that allows one to issue the print command from home, but get the printing done at IIT.
Implementation details:
-The web interface is implemented using ASP.NET 3.5 SP1.
-The Database System used in the project is Microsoft SQL Server 2008
-Printer Drivers are written using C++ using the Windows Driver Kit. Part of it is written in assembly
-The Request Broker Architecture is used for inter-process communication.
