Feedback needed about UVa Rank List from all batches

I was given some feedback about UVa rank list. One of them is that the rank should be made batch wise.

Is there any necessity for it? Personally, I prefer having a combined rank list.

Also, the advantage of having a combined rank list is increased manageability. The one we have now is fully functional. However, if we start creating batch wise rank list, it will be a bit more difficult to manage, as it will create more problem when new batches will become active/inactive.

So.. what is your opinion?

Btw, I'm gonna do some bug testing on this. This is an unnecessary question, but I believe there's a backup for this, right? I mean, if anything breaks, you'll be able to restore this. I'll let you know if i find anything.

For the pages, yes. For the database.. outta my control.
Between the source and the database, the PHP code I wrote.

I guess I will have to improve it in case anything breaks due to bad PHP code :p

First of all, I've found some statistical error there.
So far, my total number of submissions is 86. But it shows 91 there. And the case for others is actual no. of submissions + 1.
I have a suggestion (or requirement you can say). I want the ranklist to be updated more frequently. Currently, it updates perhaps each hour. That is what I've seen so far.
If it fetches updates within minutes or 10,then it will be a lot lively.

And I agree with Amit bhai that it should stay as a combined ranklist. And the reason I think for it is exactly what Amit bhai described above.
The ranking may turn up as a mismatch for 3rd batch. But I think they can at least see how far the pro's have come so far and can lift up their ambition to go even further.

Are you sure? Because if one statistical information is correct, then all of them are. If one is wrong, all of them will be wrong.

Maybe you are comparing it with felix halim, but I can assure you that I just checked the core database of UVa and it matches exactly with our rank list.

Anyway, about refreshing, it updates ONLY when someone uses the update button. I am planning to remove the update button. It will be refreshed each time the page loads. I

But in that case, loading of the page might be too much slow.

Yup. I was matching it with uHunt stats. But found it correct matching with my UVa account stats.

I found it time consuming to update the database using the update button. I think it's better to update it when page loads.

Well, I can add the refresh part when the page loads, but don't call me when the page loads for an eternity when we have 50+ entries :p
