Use firefox in safe mode when you don't need to use add-ons. When you need 'em, just use it in the regular way.

How to start firefox in safe mode?

1. Just give this switch "-safe-mode" in your firefox shortcut. Windows users should be able to find firefox in safe mode from start menu.
2. At the top of the Firefox window, click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.... Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.
