I have found a problem in ubuntu operating system.
while i was trying to setting up ubuntu there were no os in my pc.
at that case ubuntu disk couldn't detect the drives of my hard disk.
but while there was windows xp it detect the drives easily.

i also same type of problems in different forums.
i thonk that ubuntu can't detect the hard drive partition if there is no os.
if any one can solve this problem plz post here

i don't think it is like that. when you setup your ubuntu, you boot using the CD without entering XP. so, you see xp is not actually operational while you are setting up ubuntu. that is why, xp does not have anything to do with hard disk recognition. there may be some other problem. like you may have problem in the BIOS or your hard disk/mother board may have some problem...
