Final Exam Syllabus (Business Communication)

Course Name: Business Communication
Course Code: BUS 503

Some of us talked to Shafi sir this after about syllabus and question pattern. I giving the detail on it.
Sir specify some chapters, but he also told that it is not enough to read from only text book, we should have some basic knowledge also, we can have help from Internet. The book is not that mush important, we should have some idea about them. It is going to be an "open minded" exam We have to use our common sense, viewpoints also

Please inform by replying here if any addition, modification,deletion needed (Specially whom were with me while talking to sir)

Text book - Business Communication 11th edition (Lesikar, Flatley, Rentz)

Chapter 1: Communication in the Workplace
Chapter 2: Adaptation and Selection of Words
Chapter 4: Writing for Effect (You-Viewpoint(page-72) is very very important )
Chapter 5: Basic Patterns of Business Messages (Letters, Memorandums, Emails )
Chapter 9: Strategies in Job Search Process

Technical Writing (From Internet, like Wikipedia)


Question Pattern:

Short Questions
Memorandums, Letter, Email etc. writing
CV writing
Critical Thinking Questions
Case Study etc.

১টা চ্যাপ্টার থেকে ৫টা হইল কেমনে?
প্রথমে কথা ছিল oral
এরপর হইল mcq
এরপর আসল CV, cover leller etc.
এখন দেখি পুরোদমে সনাতন পরীক্ষা.......আবারও জোকস এর সম্মুখীন হতে যাচ্ছি

Chapter এইগুলা সবই স্যার ক্লাসে পড়াইছে। তবে Importance কম। কিন্তু memorandum আর email লেখা শিখাইল কবে ???
Case Study মানে কি? Case Study লিখতে হবে ? না Case Study থেকে Answer করা লাগবে ?????

sir খুব depth এ না গেলেও মোটামুটি keyword একটা দুইটা করে বলে গিয়েছেন class এ। এটার জন্যই সিলেবাস বড়


Memorandums, email এর কথাও স্যার ক্লাসে বলেছিলেন দেখে নিতে।
Case দিয়ে দিলে সেটা study করে answer করতে হতে পারে

আমার কিছু সুনির্দিষ্ট প্রশ্ন আছে......
email আর memorandum এর কোন format আছে নাকি ????
না ভাষাগত দক্ষতা যাচাই ??? (English Exam)

সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রশ্ন, স্যার আমাকে CV তে কিছু জায়গাতে bold করতে বলছিল। পরীক্ষায় সেটা কেমনে করব ????

Cover Letter লেখা শিখে লাভ কি ??কেউ কি আমাদের ইন্টার্ণির ভাইভা দিতে যাওয়ার সময় যে Cover Letter টা দেয় ওইটা দেখছে?? ক্লাস 2-3 তে ওইভাবে Cover Letter (Application) লিখতাম।

Email, memorandum এর কোনো format আছে কিনা জানিনা
sir বই দেখতে বলেছেন। আর এগুলো লিখতো আসতে পারে। format এবং ভাষাগত দক্ষতা দুইটাই সম্ভবত দেখা হবে।

আর CV এর bold/font etc. দেখা হবেনা। content দেখা হবে।

Cover Letter লেখা শিখে যে কী হবে সেটা আমার জানা নেই। শুধু cover letter না, বইয়ে যত ধরনের letter আছে সবই আসতে পারে

again, short question means what??
like: what is cv?
what should be the contents of cv?
what is the difference between email and cover letter?/
are these??? :O :O
I am really shocked and just leave it

Short questions may be settled from chapter 1,2,4. Again, I am not sure

so, if we need to answer something from chapter 2 and exercise
we definitely need to have practice of words :O :O

I thought it will be exam on Business communication. But I am surprised to see an English exam

যে চাপটার গুলা সিলেবাস এ দেয়া হইছে তার সব কিছুই কি পড়তে হবে?

first of all, i am sorry for this pure english reply. I am typing from mobile, thanks to no internet for the last 2 days.
Now, business communication is all about increasing communication capabilities. One part of it is to know and use appropriate english words. Consider it in this way. If vocabulary was not important, these sorts of things won't be in the book in the first place! About memo, if i remember correctly, sir told us about the types and format of memo at class. I don't remember anything about emails though.
Lastly, complaining about what we are going to face is not going to work.
It is not that I am happy with the syllabus. Its just that we can do nothing about it.
Anyway, i am just going to start now. If i get back internet this afternoon and can find the formats of memo and things like that, i will let you know.

আমি এইমাত্র শফি স্যারের সাথে কথা বললাম। উনি বলেছেন উনার question যেমন হয় তেমনি হবে, অর্থাৎ কিছু objective আর কিছু subjective। বই পড়তে হবে, তাছাড়াও আমাদের general knowledge দিয়ে কিছু answer করতে হবে। স্যার class এ যেমন positive word practice করতে বলেছেন ওইরকম কিছু থাকতে পারে। উনি class এ যা যা বলেছেন সেগুলো মনে থাকলে answer করা সহজ হবে উনি বলেছেন

আমার কিছু মনে নাই। আর আমি মেমো নিয়ে খালি একটা লাইন খুঁজে পাইছি আমার খাতায়। কাজেই কিছু দিতে পারছি না

বিষয়টা পড়া বহুত ক্লান্তিকর।

ভালো কথা। যারা assignment করেছিল, তাদের টা এখানে আছে।

এইগুলা প্রথম অধ্যায়ের কয়েক পৃষ্ঠা পড়ে পাইলাম। আরো কত কিছু আছে কে জানে।
