Opinion needed : chatting in Forum - Default or IRC?
Hello Everyone.
I was just reconsidering the activation of IITDU Forum's default chat box. But before that, lets take a look at the options.
IITDU IRC CHAT
Advantages
-Can be used using clients(chat zilla, for example) or using website.
-Uses the fastest chatting mechanism, i.e. IRC.
-Can even be used for file sharing.
Disadvantages
-Requires separate login.
-Is not provided by Forumotion.
-Must be accessed using a different window other than the forum.
IITDU Forum Default Chart
Advantages
-It is the default chat box.
-Can be integrated in the forum in all pages.
-Use of emoticons
-No login required.
Disadvantages
-Slower.
-Must be accessed through forum. User must be logged in.
-No kind of sharing is available.
What is your opinion? When you vote, make sure that you reply under here as well. Otherwise, that particular vote is not going to be counted.

I should vote for IITDU IRC CHAT and given that. Why?? Its properties make me to vote for that. But it would be better if the emoticons can be used here. Anyway I love it.
I would say yes to the IITDU FORUM Default Chat.
An extra page loading and additional login appears a burden to me. Slowness of default chatbox is negligible to me as long as I can keep chatting and surfing in forum simultaneously.

I'm in two minds . But IITDU FORUM Default Chat may be better rather than IITDU IRC CHAT . And this will be used by the forum users as you know IRC is being used very hardly
Hmm...
First of all, thanks for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it
I am in favor of using IITDU Forum default chat as well. Simply because it is easier to use. Probably people of IIT are not ready to use something like IRC.

Well, considering the majority of votes and things, forum chat box is now re activated.
Will see you there!!
(at present, IRC is also activated. When it will de activated, depends on feedback)

I am going for IITDU Forum Default Chat. It's very irritating to chat in a new window
"Must be accessed through forum. User must be logged in."
I don't think this should be a disadvantage. We have many more options to chat if we don't want to login here, but we want to chat in group here because we are the registered member. And if we use IRC (chat zilla) we also have to login even using command It is that much disgusting to me.
So I am strongly supporting the ITDU Forum Default Chat.

I really do not like chatting that much so I am voting for neither. One thing is bothering me. The chat box at the top of everything. Is it possible to move it somewhere else? May be at the bottom or on the right side.
It is possible. But I want some more opinions about this.
Where will IITDU Forum chat be located? above all? or below all?

The chatbox appears only at the top of forum's home page.
So,as it doesn't shows up on any other pages,I don't have any problem with its current position
