উইকিপিডিয়াতে IIT এবং অন্যান্য

সবাই মনে হয় এই ওয়েবসাইটের কথা জানে:

এখানে আমাদের IIT এর ব্যাপারে তেমন কোন তথ্য নাই। যেহেতু wikipedia একটা open article, এবং যে কেউ এখানে লিখতে পারে, আমার মনে হয় আমাদেরই কিছু করা উচিত এই বিষয়ে।

যেমন আমি সবার আগে external links এ আমাদের ফোরামের নাম ঢুকিয়ে দিয়েছি!!!

আমার মনে হয় কেউ কিছু লিখার আগে এখানে বলে নিলে আরো ভালো হয়। অথবা না বলে লিখলে সেটা এর পর জানালে আমরা সহজে জানতে পারবো কে কি করেছে

I just checked it out today. I edited a bit (added the link for IT). I wanted to do something more but IIT website is perhaps busy. It shows a "It works!" message.
If you have noticed, the article is nominated to be checked for its neutrality.. I did not notice it first but it seemed to be like that.
I found almost no Information there. I have decided to add:
1. Courses provided by IIT
2. List of directors.
3. Current faculty members.
4. The building.
5. Moto (not as a separate point, perhaps bellow the image)

I dont have anything more in my mind at this moment.

well,it really is a misery, not good to see iit's such poor documentation in Wiki.

Wiki is based on Voluntarily written articles. So.. who will be the volunteers for IIT? The teachers? Unlikely. PGDIT? A very rare possibility. MIT? Maybe.

Anyway, I have a proposition. The wiki page of IIT States that it is an orphan, meaning hardly any page links to it, although it itself is parent of many links.
IN this wiki, there is an entry for IITDU, but the links lead to the official website.

My proposition is to convert all the links to direct them to wiki pages as well as providing separate links for official website.

I think instead of using the old pictures, we should take a picture of our present IIT (along with pictures of the IIT lab, classroom) and then use them in the wiki article. we will need a camera with a good resolution. I think Mohaimin can help us about it.

I dont think its possible (not sure though). Because, wiki links are auto generated. As I know, its the exact name of the article, except that the spaces are replaced by underscore.

I agree and yes I will help of course.
But there is a problem with photo uploading. Wiki do not want any kind of trouble. Photos have copyright complexities. So, wiki do not allow ANYONE to upload photos. You are eligible to upload photos if you have made at least 10 edits. You can see the link bellow if you need more info

However, there is a way to request for photo (and files) uploading eligibility. I have made one. But it takes unknown amount of time because the requests are processed manually by human.

Wiki pages usually have a title image at the top-right corner of the page. I think we should use our logo at that place. Other pictures will be in appropriate places depending on the article.

PS, Zewel sir has not replied yet.

I think I can manage the photo uploading thing. Just send me the images! Although I will need your permission to use the image

I wanted to mean the sectors in which we are gonna work after our under-graduation from IIT.Also an exact interpretation of the specialties of IIT.

btw Mohaimin bhai for editing the link in the IIT section. And putting new pictures of iit is a great idea too from Amit bhai.

The definition of Orphan by wiki is as follows:
Orphan: An article with fewer than three incoming links which meet the criteria for linking below

Umm, I think that would require permission from authority if we want to directly copy paste contents from it. Besides, it should stay as it is in my opinion. A pdf file.

I have added description about BIT, MIT, and PGDIT. Also, external links are added. some formatting, grammatical mistakes are corrected as well.

Now the article looks much better than before. In sense of size and content. But We need to add lot more things.
I have added the list of active faculty members from IIT website (Good to see its back to work from "it works!"). But the table seems faulty. Both Saiful Sir and Khaled Sir are abroad, but Khaled Sir is listed while Saiful Sir is not. Also Sakib sir is absent in the list.
I will be at IIT tomorrow (within 11). I have decided to take some photos of IIT building, labs and other things.

By the way, another link to IIT page has been introduced. Its in ISRT page.

But there is a problem. You were not logged in when you made the edition. I think you should undo the work and then do that again after logging in.
Check the history. You will see there is an IP instead of your username.
