which one is helpful a little bit more

doc version is a bit bigger in size, and can be opened by both Microsoft office 2003 and 2007 version.
However, the docx version can only be opened using Microsoft office 2007, and is way more smaller in size.
BTW, you can use OpenOffice to open these files.
